Job Description:
CRS Adventures Ltd are looking for two enthusiastic apprentices to join our team of highly professional Instructors. As an apprentice you will go through an intensive pre season training scheme before joining our core team through the core season. You will continue to gain experience and training right up until the end of your 12 month placement, both in the workplace and through College.

Off the job training will be given plus you will attend South Devon College to cover the Technical Certificate, and Functional Skills in English and Maths if required. This will be done as front loading the training followed by a period later in the year where portfolio work and additional training is provided. You will receive lots of off the job training as well as completing the following courses, BC personal performance awards in Kayak Paddleboard skills, BC Foundation safety and rescue training, BC Paddle-sport Instructor, Outdoor 1st aid 16 hour, MT Climbing walls Instructor training, Powerboat level 2 training. You’ll also undertake loads of in house training in High Ropes, Climbing, Canoe & Kayaking and Caving to name but a few.

A great avenue into a competitive industry, you will gain invaluable experience & qualifications whilst being able to learn the key skills of an outdoor activity instructor.
As well as the training mentioned above, each apprentice will receive Cave leadership training plus lots of in house activity leadership training.

As an apprentice you will complete a large amount of training before the peak season begins in April. There after your role will be to assist CRS Adventures in the delivery of its operations as an outdoor adventure provider whilst continuing with your training. Predominantly a delivery role, the person in post will have some additional operational responsibilities which may include some overnight residential. You will then work towards your end point assessment once it is identified that you have met the required standard.

Main Responsibilities
• Assisting and occasionally leading adventurous activity sessions for a range of clients including, school groups, corporate groups and members of the public.
• Assist in the delivery of adventure residential’s as an activity leader.
• Maintain the CRS Adventures premises, equipment and vehicles.
• Assist in other areas of support as required by the business.

General Responsibilities
• Ensure the safe delivery of adventurous activities in line with CRS Adventures standard operating procedures at all times.
• Ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard and is fit for purpose at all times.
• Promote the company in a positive light and be an advocate for positive outdoor engagement to encourage and support clients in the outdoors.

Location: River Dart Country Park, Dartmoor, Devon TQ13 7NP
Wage: Dependent on Age, experience and level of qualifications
Hours: Average of 40 hours per week
Accommodation: Onsite accommodation is available with a deduction
Food: Meals are available when residential school groups are staying at the centre.
Essential Qualifications: Level 1 Paddlesport Coach OR Paddlesport Instructor (Level 1). First Aid. At least one years experience in the outdoor industry.
Desired Qualifications: SPA/RCI Training, First Aid Certificate, Cave leader training, D1 Licence.
Start date: End of March 2020

You must be a logical thinker with excellent problem solving skills and be capable of working under your own initiative. You must be fully competent with all aspects of the job and treat all equipment with respect, notifying your line manager of any faults. • Run and supervise activity sessions for all clients to a high standard.
