Location: River Dart Country Park, Dartmoor, Devon TQ13 7NP

Wage:  £11,648 – £15,600 dependent on Age, experience and level of qualifications

Hours: Average of 40 hours per week

Accommodation: Onsite accommodation is available with a deduction of

£44.80 per week

Food – Meals are available when residential school groups are staying at the centre.

Essential Qualifications: Level 1 Coach

Desired Qualifications: SPA Training, First Aid Certificate, Cave leader training, D1 Licence.

Start date: 12th March 2018

End Date: 4th Nov 2018 (with options to extend depending on performance)

Person Specification:

You must be a logical thinker with excellent problem solving skills and be capable of working under your own initiative. Excellent communication skills are essential for the role and it is imperative that you can communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. You need to be able to work with speed and efficiency, and demonstrate confidence and flexibility. You must be fully competent with all aspects of the job and treat all equipment with respect, notifying your line manager of any faults. Excellent timekeeping is essential, and employees must be presentable to clients at all times. When working for CRS Adventures we expect you to be an ambassador for the company at all times.

Responsibilities:

  • Run and supervise activity sessions for all clients to a high standard.
  • Clients may be the general public, corporate groups, schools groups, college groups and others.
  • Maintain the highest level of safety when working.
  • Maintain high personal standards of technical best practice through course delivery.
  • Follow and understand all operating procedures and risk assessments.
  • Day and Night time Supervision of clients when needed.
  • Undertake maintenance work when needed.
  • Follow instructions from line manager and work to the highest standard possible at all times.
  • May be required to perform duties of another position that are with in your capabilities.
  • Flexibility with working hours is essential.
  • On going personal professional development is essential. 

Full Time Lead Instructor

Wage: £16,575 to £18,785 per annum, dependent on Age, experience and level of qualifications.

Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Start Date: 8th Jan 2018

Accommodation: Onsite accommodation with deductions.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and hard working person to lead our team of instructors. When working for CRS Adventures we expect you to be an ambassador for the company at all times.  Applicants must be prepared to undertake ongoing professional development as required. Applicants must be 18 yrs or over and have permission to work in UK.

As a lead instructor one of your main roles will be to oversee the delivery of our residential groups, ensuring they have a high quality experience throughout their stay. You will be expected to liaise with visiting group leaders and deal with any problems that may arise efficiently. Lead instructors are expected to be exemplars in course delivery and be a role model to other instructors ensuring high standards are maintained in all areas. Responsibilities and influences will expand as the lead instructor progresses in their career. Their role will also include contributing to the operational management and running of the business, as well as having specific responsibilities to continue the professional development of group instructors.

Desired Qualifications

  • D1 or D1+ E driving licence
  • SPA Assessed
  • Level 2 Canoe and Kayak
  • 4 Star in Canoe and/or Kayak
  • Cave Leader
  • RPIOL view to APIOL
  • Certificate in competence in the inspection of PPE
  • Current First Aid Certificate

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years working in the outdoor industry
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills and a strong focus on guest welfare
  • Computer literate
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Maintenance skills
  • Maintain the highest level of safety when working.
  • Follow and understand all operating procedures and risk assessments.

 Desired Requirements:

  • Experience in supervising staff
  • Management training experience

Job Role:

  • Activity Instructing
  • Heading up activities delivered to the general public during school holidays
  • Helping with staff training, monitoring and development
  • Managing the set up and clean down for residential groups
  • Delivering a welcome talk to residential groups
  • Managing the delivery of day groups
  • Office based work ie helping create Rota’s and creation of programmes
  • Checking staff time sheets for accuracy
  • Help with the development of CRS Adventures as a business
  • Liaising with group leaders and deal with any issues that may arise
  • Overseeing equipment and equipment stores
  • Creation and review of Risk Assessments
  • Undertake maintenance work when needed
  • Day and Night time Supervision of clients when needed
  • Working away from the River Dart Country park site as and when required

Seasonal Staff
